Hyde Park Renewal Area, Chicago 2008
This internal reserve is on E 56th St, Hyde Park (see Google Map satellite image here). The original design - see below- called for two reserves in adjoining blocks perhaps as interior courts to far more uniform building groupings, but this was not followed. The day I visited this site (11 August 2008) it was about to rain, and there was very little going on either in the reserve itself or in the houses surrounding it which all looked into the space. It did, nevertheless, give the impression of being well-used.
