Stonylee Road, Cumbernauld, Scotland

Cumbernauld New Town was constructed in the early 1960s and is famous for its central shopping centre. These pictures are of some of the housing and open space in and around Stonylee Road, which as you can see from the Google map is actually about eight roads, or eight branches of one road. There is some car parking/car access, but it is in large part an attempt to create a carless environment with walkable open space throughout. On the ground it seems successful but that said, when I and my Glasgow friend Robbie Wilson visited, we didn't see anyone walking at all.
